Bollywood composer-singer Aadesh Shrivastava dies from cancer
Mumbai, Sept 5 (IBNS) Succumbing to his battle against cancer, Bollywood singer-composer Aadesh Shrivastava died at a Mumbai hospital on Saturday. He was 51.
Shrivastava had been suffering from cancer. His end came at around 12 30 am in Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani, hospital sources said.
Shrivastava, who has composed songs for over 100 Hindi films, is survived by his wife, Vijeta Pandit, a former Bollywood actress , and two sons- Anivesh and Avitesh.
As the news spread, condolences poured in.
In a series of tweets, singer Sonu Nigam said: "He was so full of life, I have yet to see another man who has his traits. My heart wrenches in grief for having lost a friend, a brother."
"I remember how he sent me his picture from hospital when he had his relapse this time.. Underneath was written, 'Mere Chhota bhaai, love you'."
"We have laughed like no one's business since we shared a common sense of humour... It's hard to believe that he won't be there anymore. He was one of my closest friends and we have done some remarkable work together. Beyond all that, we would hit it like a house on fire," NIgam said.
Actor Ritesh Deshmukh tweeted: "Sad.. Very Sad News- RIP Aadesh Shrivastava - will always remember you for your music, big smile & a warm hug,."
Actress Bipasa Basu posted: "We lost a talented good soul , so young."
Bollywood biggies like Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan were keeping a tab on his health.
After his break in 1993 with the songs of an unreleased film Kanyadaan in the year 1993, he gave hits like songs from the 1994 film Aao Pyaar Karen. "Haathon Mein Aa Gaya Jo Kal" from the film was a hit. He then composed for Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya and Shastra, the later with chart buster "Kya Ada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro"
In 1998 film Angaarey he composed the Lata Udit duet Pehli Nazar Mein Tune Ye Kya Kiya.
Shrivastava also sang a number of songs. He was also seen as a judge in talent hunt shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
He had also worked in collaboration with international musicians.
