4 Indians planning to join ISIS held captive in Syria
New Delhi, Jan 14 (IBNS) Four Indians, who fled the country to join ISIS militant group in Syria, have been nabbed and detained in Syrian prison, Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Walid al Moualem said.
The Deputy PM is currently visiting India.
According to the Indian intelligence bureau, almost 23 Indians have fled the country to join the Islamic Jihadist group and at least 5 have died while fighting a war.
Addressing the press here, Moualem said that the four must have entered Syria through Damascus and were nabbed by the government forces.
Moualem was quoted as saying by DNA, "We have invited the authorities to come and identify them and take them back. They had come to join Daesh."
The daily also reported than more than 50 families in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were prevented from joining the fringe group.
