Kohli ton takes India to 272

Adelaide, Jan 26 (IBNS): Virat Kohli became the first Indian to score a century on the tour but his valiant knock could not save the innings from folding up for 272 in the first innings, in reply to Australia's 604/7 declared, on the third day of the fourth and the final cricket Test at the Adelaide Oval here Thursday.

Kohli top scored with 116 and along with Wriddhiman Saha (35) added valuable 114 runs for the fifth wicket after India were reduced to 111 for six in the first session.

For Kohli it was his maiden Test ton and his 213 ball knock was studded with 11 fours and a six.

For Australia, Peter Siddle picked up five for 49 while Ben Hilfenhaus got three for 62.

India fell 132 runs short of saving the follow-on but Australia decided against making the visitors bat again. Australia took a first innings lead of 332 runs.
